Don’t Expect Assassin’s Creed Valhalla to Run at 60 Frames-Per-Second on PS5

Ubisoft guaranteeing 30 frames-per-second for now

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is a cross-gen title, scheduled to release on the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 later this year. But does that mean that the next-gen version will run at 60 frames-per-second if its current-gen counterpart is targeting 30 frames-per-second? Microsoft’s official website only specified 4K support for the title on Xbox Series X, and Eurogamer Portugal has since managed to get a statement out of publisher Ubisoft regarding the matter.

“Currently, we can guarantee that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will run at least 30 frames-per-second [on Xbox Series X],” a spokesperson explained, as translated by WCCFTech. “Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will benefit from faster loading times, allowing players to immerse themselves in the history and the world without friction. Finally, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will benefit from improved graphics made possible by the Xbox Series X, and we can’t wait to see the beautiful world we’re creating in stunning 4K resolution.”

The title’s obviously still in development, so things could change as we edge closer to release. It’s also worth stressing that the company’s not discussing the PS5 version at this stage, due to both contractual obligations and Sony’s secrecy. Nevertheless, we wouldn’t recommend pinning your hopes on a 60 frames-per-second port at this stage – it just doesn’t seem like that’s Ubisoft’s priority with this title.
