23 Unpopular Opinions About “Glee” That 100% Needed To Be Said Out Loud

We asked the BuzzFeed Community what their unpopular Glee opinions were, and they really delivered. Here’s what they said:

1.

Sue wasn’t really a villain, and the New Directions wouldn’t have been successful without her.

Fox

“I know a lot of people hated Sue. She was a pretty terrible person, but I feel like the glee club wouldn’t have been successful without her. She constantly pushed them and gave them a reason to fight. She also gave them a taste of the real world by showing them how a lot people will tear you down, even for no reason. Plus, there were a TON of times when she was super kind and generous.”

2.

Kurt and Blaine were NOT a good couple and shouldn’t have been endgame.

Fox

“They were cute for a teenage romance, but by Season 5 it was clear that Kurt had outgrown Blaine. Blaine may have been a ‘teenage dream,’ but at a certain point Kurt needed more than the fantasy.”

3.

In fact, Blaine would’ve been better off with Sebastian.

Fox

“Kurt and Blaine were so predictable. Sebastian would’ve challenged Blaine.”

4.

Quinn was one of the best-written characters in the series.

Fox

“Her arcs were amazing. She dealt with teen pregnancy, went from good girl to bad girl, and finally ended up going to college and realized she didn’t need a man to define her. I know she did some horrendous things, but all of the characters did. She overcame so much, and I wish they kept her storyline more involved.”

5.

Rachel and Finn had an incredibly toxic relationship and shouldn’t have been together.

Fox

“Rachel wouldn’t let Finn see or talk to any other girl, and they always had to give up their other friendships just to be together.”

6.

Damian McGinty was actually really, really talented and deserved better storylines instead of constantly playing into Irish stereotypes.

Fox

“They did Rory dirty. Damian McGinty won The Glee Project, but his storylines were always playing up Irish stereotypes. The show had a new voice, yet they did absolutely nothing productive with it.”

7.

Mercedes and Quinn had a great friendship and should’ve stayed friends after Quinn had her baby.

Fox

“After Quinn’s pregnancy journey, Mercedes and Quinn barely interacted…except for God Squad, of course.”

cryiss

8.

If Blaine was written as bisexual, he and Rachel could’ve been a really cute couple.

Fox

9.

Dave Karofsky had the best character growth in the entire series.

Fox

10.

Sam and Mercedes actually had the most mature relationship on the show and should’ve been endgame.

Fox

“They respected and supported the heck out of each other, had obvious chemistry, and always wanted the best for each other. It was super disappointing when they didn’t end up together.”

jkwell

11.

Kurt wasn’t actually that great of a singer, and there were people waaaaay more talented in the glee club.

Fox

“I feel horrible saying this, but Kurt’s singing voice was awful. It sounded like he sang through his nose.”

lainey_d

12.

Sebastian and Santana had more chemistry than literally any of the actual couples on the show.

Fox

13.

In the five-year flash-forward at the end of the series, Rachel should’ve ended up with Sam instead of Jesse.

Fox

14.

Brittany was an extremely overrated and highly unlikable character.

Fox

“I didn’t like Brittany, especially when she didn’t even know the names of people she considered friends. The show’s excuse was that Brittany was just dumb, but in reality, she actually only cared about Santana. Brittany was very overrated.”

hiimbarb

15.

Brittany and Santana had terrible chemistry and shouldn’t have been together.

Fox

“I think Brittana was the worst couple on Glee. They weren’t cute together and the relationship only happened because Brittany and Santana were the only two queer women on the show. They had hardly anything in common and they didn’t really have good chemistry.”

alisiakrieg

16.

Kitty was actually more likable than some of the show’s original characters.

Fox

“During her seasons, she really grew in terms of how she acted and handled her relationships. She was also one of the best singers and dancers on the show. She could put on an amazing performance.”

17.

Rachel wasn’t really that cringey or annoying, people just didn’t understand her.

Fox

“You have to admit the show wouldn’t have been what it was without Rachel.”

openthemarmite

18.

Roderick had the best singing voice of anyone on the show.

Fox

19.

The New Directions’ version of “Don’t Stop Believin'” is actually terrible.

Fox

“I know it’s one of the biggest moments on the show, but I can’t listen to that song anymore because of this cover.”

fritzmariak

20.

Jesse St. James should have been on the show longer, because he and Rachel had incredible chemistry.

Fox

21.

Santana was actually a terrible character and never had any real character development throughout the series.

Fox

22.

Rachel was actually a way better character once she moved to New York.

Fox

“I actually liked the seasons where Rachel was in New York. It felt like she belonged there and she was a lot happier, which made her a lot less annoying.”

lmniccum01

23.

And finally, the Glee version of “Run Joey Run” was *chef’s kiss* perfection.

Fox

“‘Run Joey Run’ is a masterpiece, particularly Rachel’s music video.”
