Which House Should You Choose in Fire Emblem: Three Houses?
The first and most important decision you’ll make in Fire Emblem: Three Houses is choosing which house you’re going to lead. There are three options to choose from: Black Eagles, Blue Lions, and Golden Deer.
- The Black Eagles have the most magically-inclined students and are led by Edelgard, an ax-wielding noble.
- The Blue Lions have many cavalry-inclined students and are led by Dimitry, a lance-wielding noble.
- The Golden Deer have the most archery-inclined students and are led by Claude, a bow-wielding noble.
Before deciding on a house, take some time to compare them and see what they have to offer in terms of classes, romance options, and personal abilities. Keep in mind that you can always recruit characters from other houses, so choose the house that suits you best. For a more detailed breakdown on choosing a house in Fire Emblem: Three Houses, check out our wiki guides.

What are the Best Classes in Fire Emblem: Three Houses?
When it comes to mastering classes in Fire Emblem: Three Houses, students in each house will always start off as a commoner or a noble. But as you teach them and they participate in combat, students level up their weapon proficiencies and can advance to the next class tier with a certification exam.
Students aren’t limited to one class path as they can switch back and forth from different classes they’ve unlocked. Deciding which class or classes a student will master is ultimately up to you, however, students will show interest or have a natural proficiency in certain skills that make them better suited for particular classes.
Take a look at our Skills, Character, and Class Mastery guides for an in-depth explanation of choosing classes for students in Fire Emblem: Three Houses.

Monastery Activities in Fire Emblem: Three Houses
Garreg Mach Monastery is not only home to the Black Eagles, Blue Lions, and Golden Deer houses, but it’s a bustling school filled with plenty of activities. On your days off, you can choose to explore the monastery and participate in these activities. While you can spend as much time as you want to explore, you’re only given a specific number of points to spend on activities, particularly the things that raise student and faculty motivation and bonding.
Remember to spend activity points on students in your house that are low on motivation, especially the ones you teach during the week as they can usually use the boost!
- Sharing Meals
- Choir Practice
- Faculty Training
- Tea Parties
- Training Grounds
Gardening and fishing require no activity points. Cooking, sharing meals, choice practice, faculty training, tea parties, and participating in a tournament at the training grounds require 1 activity point each time you do them. If you spend all of your activity points and want to spend more time on your off day at the Monastery, try chatting it up with some of the students and faculty. They’ll often have side quests for you or offer up useful information. Exploring the monastery for lost items is another great option, too.

Support and Romance in Fire Emblem: Three Houses
Fighting alongside and spending time with students helps to build support bonds and even open up potential romance options. Leveling up support ranks in Fire Emblem: Three Houses unlocks special conversations and scenes with those characters, however, achieving S-Rank can only be done with specific characters based on Byleth’s gender. For a chart of which characters each Byleth can reach S-Rank with, check out our support and romance guide as well as our other bond-building guides.
