Dave Filoni Posts Message to Star Wars Fans Worried About Ahsoka’s Fate
SPOILERS AHEAD for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels, and The Mandalorian’s Dave Filoni has drawn and shared an image of Ahsoka Tano and The Lord of the Ring’s Gandalf to reassure fans of of the beloved once-Jedi that her fate may not be as clear as The Rise of Skywalker may have made them believe.Ahsoka Tano, who was created by George Lucas and Filoni and was once Anakin Skywalker’s Padawan, was one of the past Jedi who spoke to Rey during the toughest moments of her battle with Emperor Palpatine. All of these other Jedi had passed away, but this new image by Filoni has given hope to fans of the Togruta who has captured hearts across the galaxy.

Filoni’s drawing features Ahsoka standing beside Gandalf from The Lord of the Rings. Gandalf says “People thought I was dead, too. Look how that turned out…” As those who are familiar with the story of Gandalf the Grey know, he appeared to have met his fate at the hand/whip of the Balrog in the Mines of Moria. However, he would then be reborn as the more powerful Gandalf the White.

What this means for Ahsoka remains to be seen, but it hopefully means we will see her story continue in some form of another, even if she really is gone for good by the events of The Rise of Skywalker.

We last left Ahsoka at the end of Star Wars Rebels, where she would join Sabine Wren following the events of the Battle of Endor to search for Ezra Bridger, who disappeared during Lothal’s liberation.

Could we see this adventure or another play out on Disney+ or in a novel, comic, or film? Will Ahsoka make her live action debut in The Mandalorian, which takes place after Star Wars Rebels? Will she appear as Force Ghost or even something more post-Skywalker Saga? The options are endless, but this post should tentatively put at ease those who thought The Rise of Skywalker would be the end of her journey. For more on Ahsoka, check out our review of her standalone novel, Filoni’s previous comments on the potential of more stories of her following the return of Star Wars: The Clone Wars on Disney+, and why Star Wars Rebels and Ahsoka’s story are both so crucial to Star Wars Canon.
